DESCRIPTION:     Climate Change expert and community leader Don MacIver discusses the science and strategy needed to prepare the Headwaters landscape for climate change.

Artist and author Franke James takes climate change to a personal level by merging science and art to inspire action and responsibility.

Credit Valley Conservation and the Region of Peel introduce their local strategy for climate change action.

Life Lessons and Learning to Love Worms


DATE:     TUESDAY JUNE 1st from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m. in the community room at Albion Bolton Union Community Centre (ABUCC), 150 Queen Street South, Bolton (auditorium, second floor)

DESCRIPTION:     Cathy Nesbitt is a worm advocate and the founder of     Cathy's Crawly Composters. Cathy believes that the solution to the garbage crisis is several solutions, one of which is vermicomposting. Discover how to convert organic matter into nature's finest soil amendment and find out how red wiggler worms benefit the environment. Cathy's engaging presentation will include a 15-minute session for kids in the audience who would like to make their own mini worm kit. This presentation will inspire kids from ages 4 to 94.
Damian MacSeáin was born in Wawa, and raised in Peel, Damian MacSeáin is the son of Irish immigrants. Together with his Aboriginal wife and children Damian ventured north to his wife's fly-in James Bay Cree community, a place where timeless traditions and modern development meet head on. What could this possibly have to do with our GTA lifestyle? Everything! Life Lessons from the North: A Year in Peetabeck uses pictures and stories to communicate Damian's Top Ten Take-aways from his amazing year-long adventure!
Admission: $5.00 per person. Seniors, students, and Green T members are admitted free.
Light refreshments will be served: Fair trade coffee from Palgrave's Buckstown Beans and organic teas from Caledon East's Tea Boutique. Yummy nibblies from Bolton's Soup du Jour. Please BYOM (Bring Your Own Mug).

EVENT NAME:     Earth Day Payback ~ a fabulous evening of humour, music and timely words to benefit the planet

DATE:     THURSDAY APRIL 22nd at 7:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:     On the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Green T is thrilled to announce another performance of PayBack!  The centrepiece of this special evening is a dramatic reading from the final chapter of the book Payback by Margaret Atwood.  In that chapter, Atwood wrote a new version of the Christmas Carol story that features a modern-day Scrooge encountering the Spirits of Earth Day Past, Present, and Future.  The readers this year will include Dave Seglins (host of CBC Radio's The World This Weekend), Shelley Peterson (actress, author, and Caledon equestrian), David Nairn (Artistic Director of Theatre Orangeville) and the producer Caledon actor and writer Andrew Welch.  Interspersed throughout the evening are performances by a number of local musicians including Laura Bird, Nonie Crete, and Jory Nash.

Venue: Christ Church Anglican, 22 Nancy Street, Bolton.
Tickets: $15 in advance or $18 at the door.
Note: Seating is limited so early purchase is recommended to avoid disappointment - last year over 100 people attended this event.  Tickets are currently available online at www.EarthDayPayback.ca and at Forster's Book Garden in Bolton.

DATE:     THURSDAY APRIL 15th from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m. in the community room at Palgrave United Church, 34 Pine Avenue, Palgrave (just 10 minutes north of Bolton)

DESCRIPTION:     Ruth Zaugg will be sharing a presentation that she has given for the Community Food Advisors of Peel Health and giving tips and ideas on how to cut down a little on our meat and dairy consumption.  Ruth will hand out recipes, and even have some samples for you to taste.

Jon Harding from Harding and Associates join us to explain the Ontario Electronic Stewardship program.  Harding and Associates is officially partnered in the OES program for all electronic accessories and can help you will environmentally-responsible disposal of desktop computers, laptops, peripheral devices, monitors, printing devices and even televisions.

Velvet Matinnia will tell us all about the Seedz program and how to gather and store seeds for future growing seasons.

Graham Corbett will explain how Community Supported Agriculture groups (CSAs) work and will announce the 2010 CSA organic program from Caledon's Whole Village farm.

This hands-on workshop will teach you how to do the ground work for a naturalized space in your garden or lawn. Owner of Bolton's May Flowers by Design, gardening specialist Deborah May-Forbes will demonstrate tips and techniques for an easy conversion to a low-maintenance, environmentally-friendly space. DESCRIPTION:     HOMES THAT BREATHE ~ A presentation about breathing walls and green roofs. Learn all about breathing walls and green roofs in this presentation by Dr. Brad Bass from the Centre for Environment at the University of Toronto. Dr. Bass is Chair of the North American Green Roof Research Committee and has been working for 14 years on designing indoor ecosystems.

Opening for Dr. Bass are: The Green Team Drama Troupe from Bolton's Allan Drive Middle School ~ performing Morning Choices: a series of short skits that illustrate how the many choices we make in our daily routines can collectively have a large impact on our environment. And...... Olivier St-Hilaire, an enthusiastic green-spirited teacher from Caledon' s Herb Campbell Public School who will be sharing a presentation about their environmental successes that features a wonderful outdoor classroom and butterfly garden.
